ブッダガヤは仏教の開祖、釈迦が菩提樹の下で悟りを開いたとされる地として有名な場所です。私は１週間ガイドを雇った。ガイドは飯屋、民家、土産屋、寺院、大きな木などの観光スポットに連れて行ってくれた。その行き先の一つ、路上生活する乳児を抱く母だ。彼女は差し出すものは多くなく、明らかに腐っているトマトを差し出した。その瞳を見て騙していないのが分かる。私はそのトマトを口に運ぶ事ができなかった。どうすればいいのかガイドに訪ねる。すると、あなたの気持ち渡してあげなさい。私は数ドルを渡す。彼女はそれでもトマトは持って帰りなさいと綺麗な目で訴えかけていた。

Bodh Gaya is famous as the place where Buddha, the founder of Buddhism, is said to have attained enlightenment under the Bodhi tree. I hired a guide for a week. The guide took us to tourist spots such as a restaurant, a private house, a souvenir shop, a temple, and a large tree. One of those destinations is a mother holding an infant living on the street. She didn't have much to offer, just a tomato that was clearly rotten. I can tell by looking at his eyes that he's not deceiving me. I couldn't bring the tomato to my mouth. Ask the guide what to do. Then, give mum your feelings. I hand over a few dollars. Even so, she was pleading with me to take the tomatoes home with her beautiful eyes.
