琉球王国最高の聖地。国家繁栄・安寧、五穀豊穣、航海安全などを神に祈願しました。国家的な祭事には聖なる白砂を「神の島」といわれる久高島から特別に運び入れ、それを御嶽に敷きつめました。

現在はこの場所は閉鎖されています。理由は外国人旅行客が撮影のために御嶽の上に登るなどして、神聖な壺を割ってしまったりしたからです。悲しい事ですがこの聖地は本当の意味で元の聖地に戻りました。この絵画の向こうに見える長い島が久高島です。

The most sacred place in the Ryukyu Kingdom. They prayed to God for national prosperity and peace, abundant crops, and safe navigation. For national festivals, sacred white sand was specially transported from Kudaka Island, known as the "Island of the Gods," and spread over the Utaki. The long island visible beyond this painting is Kudaka Island. This location is currently closed. The reason is that foreign tourists climbed on top of the Utaki to take photos and broke the sacred pot. It's a sad thing, but this sacred place has returned to its original status in the true sense of the word.
