闇に咲くサボテン科の白い花「月下美人」。

花の咲く時期は、日本では主に7～11月。夕方18時頃から蕾が開き始め、朝にはしぼんでしまう一夜花。花は大きく、とてもとは思えないほど白い花を咲かせます。それより驚いたのがこのお花、食べれます。湯煎した途端に「ぬめり」が発生し、オクラみたいになるのです。えぐみもなく、醤油をかけていただきます。沖縄のおばあはこれを、ご飯にかけて食べるそうです。最高に美味しかった。みなさんにも一度は食べていただきたい絶品です。でも盗んじゃダメよ。

"Gekikabijin" is a white flower of the cactus family that blooms in the dark.

The flowers bloom mainly from July to November in Japan. The buds begin to open around 6 pm in the evening and wither in the morning. The flowers are large and bloom with an incredibly white color. What surprised me even more was that these flowers are edible. As soon as it is boiled in hot water, it becomes slimy and looks like okra. It is not harsh and is served with soy sauce. Apparently, Okinawan grandmothers eat this over rice. It was absolutely delicious. This is an exquisite dish that everyone should try at least once. But don't steal it.
