太陽神ラーは、古代エジプト神話に登場する太陽神で、最高神とされていました。太陽の運行を司り、世界に光と熱をもたらす神として信仰されていました。世界的にも太陽は信仰され、日本では天照。それと対をなす月読。ローマ帝国では、太陽神ミトラ。ギリシャ神話では、アポロン。そしてインカ神話のインティを代表とする強い太陽崇拝がありました。

太陽崇拝の対象となる太陽は、生命の創造者、牧畜の守護者、作物の育成者などとして信仰されています。日本で有名なのが意外にも「初日の出」です。びっくり、本当だ！
